Tierve!
If you have no clue what that means it is Finnish for hello:) All my zone leaders are going to Finland on their missions so I have to pick up on the language. I love my zone leaders! Vanhin (elder) Budd is so awesome. Last night I had a horrible cramp in the arch of my foot that had been on going for 3 days. Icy hot and Tylenol wasn't helping at all! And even though my my feet were stinky... Vanhin Budd stretched and massaged it for nearly 20 minutes! what a great guy huh??:) Vanhin Esplin is who I run with everyday. we end up doing about 2 miles, 60 push ups, 300 crunches, 80 dips, and that's not including the weights I lift...
Vanhin weaver is pretty cool too! Vanhin Linden though is the bomb!!! He gave up so much to be here. He was a semi pro skier and played soccer for a professional team who is one of the best out here.. He is fluent in 6 different languages including German, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, English and French... Finnish will be his 7th!!! And though he can't speak Russian he can understand everything that is being said! The guy is so down to earth. Vanhin Clegg is new but he made friends fast and is great at basketball.
Earlier this week I had the opportunity to hear a talk from Elder Bednar who is now one of my favorite apostles. He gives us a talk on the holy ghost that I kinda want to share with you. He goes on to talk about a story he experienced as a stake president. He explains that he had an impression to leave a priesthood session take a father who was the elders quorum president and drive 2 hours to watch their sons play a basketball game (who were against each other). He then goes on to say that he had felt horrible for trying to justify this for the next 6 months. Had he just wanted to watch a silly old game rather than do his duty?
It wasn't until a morning, that 6 months later that He understood... the father who skipped out with him to go to the game called elder Bednar crying... He explained that while working that morning chopping wood, his son had struck down on the wood, and in so doing, a little piece of metal had come off and struck him in the chest...nicking his heart, causing eternal bleeding. The father wanted Elder Bednar to come immediately, but by the time Bednar had arrived the son had passed... The Father threw his arms around Elder Bednar and thanked him for the night of the basketball game. He tells Elder Bednar that it was the only game he was able to make it to because of his duties and because of it he was able to bond with his son and see him play once before he passed. We don't realize that the Holy Ghost isn't going to always give us a direct answer.
He will always guide us but we may not know it, until it is revealed to us at a later time
" Be a good boy, be a good girl, honor your covenants, keep the commandments and you are promised everything you ask of the lord." -Elder Bednar D&C 82:10
